Year 7 Camp 2009

On Tuesday 13th of October the students of room 15,18 and 19 were transported by their generous parent's to Houghton's Bush Camp, Muriwai.
This bush location was where the year 7 Camp was held and everyone was clearly very excited.
Camp gives students the opportunity to boost their confidence, make new friends and have amazing outdoor experiences.
In the camp we were separated into 7 bird tribes and these teams earned points by winning the games, being helpful or doing many other incredible things.
Treats were given out to students for having clean cabins and early bed times. The ultimate tribal package was the grand prize for the tribe that earned the most points.
During camp we did many fun things like sport rounds, kayaking, archery, rock climbing, raft building and orienteering. Some of these were run by the professional instructors from Bigfoot Adventures. We did so many fun things and were kept on the move and really busy. The lake water was rather cold though, Miss Procner managed to avoid doing the water activities!
Overall we had a really fun time at Camp and would like to thank everyone there for a memorable, awesome and fantastic time. I am sure we will remember our Year 7 camp for many more years to come ☺

Japan

Hi I’m Courtney, one of room 18’s main blog site monitors.
I have just recently come back from my trip to Japan with my parents. I went for eight days, seven nights. I stayed at Sado Island, where we lived with home stay in a traditional Japanese house. For the rest of the time I stayed in Tokyo where I got to go to Disney Land!
My trip was an amazing experience but….
it’s nice to be back blogging again.

Form Time Work (reflecting on key competency 'Managing Self')

Michaela’s Acrostic Poem:

Managing all of my work at school.
Always trying to get accuracy.
Never giving up when things are getting hard.
Aim for a goal and trying my best to accomplish it.
Getting all of my gear together for school.
Independence and thinking for myself.
Never thinking negative.
Good work is always better.

Setting good standards.
Exploring my advantages and disadvantages to help me.
Learning in a sensible manner.
Finding new things to try out.

Rousseau's Acrostic Poem:

Managing through tough times in life.
Always being focused.
Never giving up.
Always being positive.
Giving everything a try and being outgoing.
Independence and intelligence.
Never bringing anyone down.
Getting tasks done on time.

Sticking with everything you know.
Encouraging others.
Listening in all lessons.
Feeling positive about my work and the effort put into it.

On Wednesday the 6th of May 2009, teachers and pupils of Ponsonby Intermediate School and local spectators took part in the event ‘Pass The Ball’. This activity helped to fundraise sponsorship money for Plunket. Our class Room 18 was situated near KFC. The whole idea was to pass 20 rugby balls all through Ponsonby Road without dropping them more then 10 times. It was heaps of fun and we thankfully raised a lot of money for a worthy cause.
